The Stylist's Notebook

Trends, Tips, and the Art of Dressing Well

Welcome to The Stylist’s Notebook: Your Guide to Style & Fashion’s Biggest Moments

Welcome to The Stylist’s Notebook! I’m so excited that you’re here with me on this journey. I decided to start this blog because I have a passion for fashion and a passion for sharing my thoughts both in the verbal and written word, so why not combine two of the things I enjoy? This is not my first attempt at blogging, I had a small blog in college called “An Aspiring Fashionista” but as fun and youthful as that title is, I figured since I’ve been in the work force for almost a decade now, I am no longer Aspiring. As a certified fashion and bridal stylist, I figured that I have things to share about my experiences with my career, as well as thoughts about what is going on in the fashion industry today. This blog is for people who love personal styling, want to understand trends, and are curious about fashion’s inner workings.

My name is Claire, I’m originally from the Seattle, Washington area, where high fashion is considered rain boots and North Face. I always was interested in fashion from a young age, designing dresses in my notebooks, obsessing over the fashion of the early 00’s, and from there I learned how to sew on my grandmothers old Singer sewing machine. I obtained a degree in Apparel, Textiles, and Design, with a minor in Marketing from university, and right after school I got my first official job working at Weddington Way, which was Banana Republic’s bridesmaids line. I admit it was random, but it was my first job out of school and it was a great first experience. About a year in, the division closed down and everyone was laid off. To be honest, I totally panicked and interviewed at a bridal shop which would turn out to be my career for the next 6 years. One of the things that have always drawn me to fashion is the ability to see the persons self expression in what they wear. It’s a way for someone to express their personality without having to verbally say anything. Throughout the years, my personal style has changed drastically. Sometimes for the better, and sometimes for the worse as my body has also changed (I’m in my 30’s now and that is totally to be expected, I no longer have the metabolism of my 22 year old self that’s for sure). My goal for this blog is that I wanted to create a space for style lovers who want both practical tips, as well as industry insight and thoughts.

What you’ll find on this blog:

Personal Styling Tips- Helping you refine your style and build a wardrobe you love.

Trend Reviews- Breaking down what’s happening in fashion and how to wear it.

Fashion Industry Insights- Giving you a look at the industry, from runway moments to real-world fashion.

Here’s the thing, fashion isn’t just about trends- it’s about confidence, practicality, and individuality. We’ll break down how each one of those should play into your personal style, and we’ll have some fun while we’re at it! This isn’t just a trend blog; it’s about making fashion work for you. I’ll cover real, wearable fashion alongside the excitement of high fashion.
